![]() ![]() In order to convert 4k HDR on the fly to suite any device you need a really really fast CPU or (with a Plex subscription) a gpu (although using GPU is free on Jellyfin). If you don't get an Nvidia shield and try to play directly off the LG tv there's a chance it won't support all the codecs you may be trying to watch, if that happens, software like Plex and jellyfin will attempt to convert the media on the fly before sending to your TV (to make the media compatible with your TV). You don't need a fast cpu or anything fancy, just a half decent network connection between the devices. ![]() The Nvidia shield pro can "direct stream" almost anything, meaning the whole process of "streaming the media" is literally just a case of downloading the file from the server and playing it. My main suggestion would be to spend less on a server and buy an Nvidia shield pro. ![]()
